Short message service or sms are the short text messages send from one mobile phone to another mobile. The first SMS message was sent over Vodafone GSM network in the year December 3, 1992.

Today SMS can be sent from messenger to different mobiles. Yahoo messenger is one of the example of sending SMS from messenger to the mobiles. Most of the mobile networks do not charge any charges for sending SMS from the messenger to their mobile.
